Kerala, sometimes referred to in historical terms as Keralam, is a state in the south-west region of India on the Malabar coast. It was created on 1 November 1956 following the States Reorganisation Act by combining various Malayalam-speaking regions. Spread over 38,863 km2 (15,005 sq mi), it is bordered by Karnataka to the north and north east, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Lakshadweep Sea to the west. With 33,387,677 inhabitants as per the 2011 census, Kerala is the thirteenth largest state by population and is divided into 14 districts with the capital being Thiruvananthapuram. Malayalam is the most widely spoken and official language of the state.

Check-out after breakfast and drive over to the beautiful backwaters of Alleppey. Board your own private AC houseboat for an overnight cruise of the canals, lakes and lagoons of the backwaters. Sit back and observe how life gets lived surrounded by water. Ask the captain to assist you in buying fresh caught fish to be enjoyed at your evening on-board meal. Stop off for fresh tender coconut or to explore any of the numerous small communities who spend their lives isolated from the mainland. During the evening, enjoy the cool ocean breeze over what is certain to be one of your most enjoyable meals of the tour. Fall asleep to the sound of waves lapping against the sides of the boat.
