A transit point for almost all visitors to Kenya and it's splendid outdoors, Nairobi is worthy of some attention in its own right. Begin with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum located 10 kilometres from the city centre. Wander the sprawling estate and look through the many fascinating exhibits of Blixen, a pioneer coffee farmer and author of the acclaimed memoir 'Out of Africa'.
Have tea at the wildly exciting Giraffe Centre, and if you're lucky, one of the resident giraffe's may just poke their head in for a nibble from your plate! The centre is known for its outstanding work in protecting the endangered Rothschild's giraffe.
At the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, part of the Nairobi National Park, watch the endearing daily ritual of orphaned baby elephants being bottle-fed milk by their handlers. After the feed, watch as the elephants frolic in the mud like excited toddlers.
