Seductions of the South

There are a few classic images that come to mind when one thinks of Spain—and in Andalusía, these come to life in full colour. The capital city of Seville has a special allure. A blend of Mudéjar and Christian architecture, the palace complex of Real Alcázar, with its maze of courtyards, rooms and gardens, is simply exquisite. Equally iconic is the Seville Cathedral, the largest gothic cathedral in the world. Seville is also popular for its flamenco shows, beguiling doorways to Spanish dance and music traditions. Swish your way to Córdoba next, where the Mezquita, which brings together a mosque and a cathedral, is a fascinating piece of architecture and history. Over in Granada, the Alhambra palace and fortress complex, located high on a hilltop, beautifully encapsulates the city’s Moorish connections. There are a smattering of great restaurants close by, where you can savour some authentic Spanish dishes while catching some impressive views of the city.
