Phang Nga—A Tryst with Fame

Along the southern coast of Thailand and on the shores of the Andaman Sea lies Phang Nga province, a small town bestowed with extraordinary landscapes. Its claim to fame is Phang Nga Bay, which formed the mesmerizing backdrop for the 1974 James Bond film ‘Man with a Golden Gun’—so much so, that its Koh Tapu is famously known as ‘James Bond Island’. With its jagged limestone rock formations and sparkling green waters, it’s no wonder that these formed the setting for a 007 escapade. Sharing the spotlight in Phang Nga are rich national parks, along with some superlative dive sites at Similan and Surin Islands.
