Soak in the many sights of the Mekong Delta

The area between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia, known as the Mekong Delta, is fed by the mighty Mekong river and its many distributaries. The region is also popularly referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam, as most of the country's rice and fish comes from here. Its murky waters are a precious life force to the many communities that inhabit its banks.

My Tho is the most visited city in the region and visitors flock here to experience river life, complete with floating houses and markets. For a calmer experience, head inland to visit impressive pagodas or take a tour of the many orchards found here.

If you haven't had your fill of floating markets and the photo opportunities they present, then head to Can Tho, the largest city in the Mekong Delta. Can Tho's Cai Rang floating market is a visual delight of sorts. Boats overflowing with fruits and flowers of every kind jostle for space and customers.
